The working group is involved in the following research activities:

In freshwater environments

Macro and micro plastic monitoring in:

1. surface water, water column, sediments in collaboration with Legamanbiente/Goletta dei Laghi on Italian lakes and rivers
2. stomach content  of some selected fish species.

Monitoring of microfibers in civil wastewater and sludge treatment plants.

Characterization of polymeric materials and data analysis.

In seawater and coastal strip

Macro and micro plastic monitoring in:

• biota impact assessment campaigns also in collaboration with Legambiente/Goletta Verde - Expedition Med (Mediterranean area).

Characterization of polymeric materials and data analysis

Impact on coastal psammophile bands and egagropyl.

The Working Group develops activities of  communication and dissemination with the aim of informing and increasing citizens' awareness of environmental issues covered by its research activities.
